Lighting the Popstars Stage
« on: June 10, 2015, 15:01:04 »

This is about how to add lights to your 5602 Popstars Stage.
It comes with a total of 10 light fixtures on the stage, but they are not working.

To do this project you will need a drill, and some LED lights.

After getting those ( more about the lights later) you need to drill holes in the back of the light fixtures.

Here is what most of them look like from the back. There is a round hole but it doesn't go all the way through.

You will need to find a drill and drill bit that will fit in the hole nicely. Then just carefully drill through the small amount of plastic into the back of the main light opening.

After that you insert the LED light into the fixture. Usually you will want to insert it from the front with the wires going through since the bulb part may be bigger than your hole, and they tend to be a little delicate.

Here is the back of the stage with the lights all inserted. You can see I have twisted the ends of them all together and attached a little switch and a 9 volt battery.

Here it is from the front lit up

Details about the lights themselves:
I purchased the LEDs and other wiring from a company in the US called Evan Designs. Their website is http://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/ledlights1.html
For this project I used 10 of the Warm White 1.8mm sized LED lights on 14 inch wires
1 of the 9 volt battery with switch sets

They offer various other lights and another interesting battery option using a watch battery

You can see one of those in use here where I've used a warm white chip LED on the little battery set under the umbrella of the ice cream cart.

That's all it took for this project, and I think the results are well worth the effort if you are doing night or evening scenes.

Thanks so much for the info! I bought some LEDs a while ago for my circus, but I had no idea how to use them properly. They must still be around here somewhere...

It looks absolutely amazing, by the way  ;)
