How do you clean out....
« on: January 21, 2012, 21:15:48 »
.... the stickyness left by tape on playmobil?
I used water, then alcohol but it is not going away.
I have a carrying case that came with playmobil tape to close it and when I opened it the tape was very sticky. I still can't get rid of it.

any advice?   :-[

Oh, I wish I knew a good way to do this. :-\ I have playmobil from when I was a kid that has sticky stuff on it from me "getting creative" and taping stuff together. I find sometimes after it really dries out you can just rub it off, but that doesn't always work. :-\

scotch-brite pad... but be careful if it is a brittle or delicate part... its easy to go to hard, and use light touch or you may scratch it a bit, however it will still be better than the sticky state
Someday, I will organize my stuff, I promise.

I use a sticky stuff remover, which comes in an aerosol can

(Which reminds me, I must spray a caravan roof that I've got out for Knaresbourough)

Care is needed though as it does remove some colour onto the cloth if rubbed too hard

I used something called 'Clearasil' wipes to clean some sticky marks off some of my klickies from when James had stuck ribbon on them with double sided tape, and they worked really well.

The Clearasil wipes are what my teenagers use to clean their skin to stop them getting spots!  I think they may contain surgical spirit.  I should think there will be an equivalent in other countries.

Having said that, I got a 5302 house that someone had pulled the wallpaper off and stuck it on the floor and I tried just about everything I could think off and still have some sticky bits left  :wall:

I use a liquid called "Sticky Stuff Remover".  Follow the instructions.

Great - you can get rid of the stickyness and also prevent spots simultaneously!

I use Testors Universal Enamel Thinner. It removes adhesive residue without any damage to plastic. I've used it for years. You can get it at hobby shops that sell plastic models.
