You click the quote button on the top right of the post. Don't mess with the stuff in square brackets, though you can edit the text inside the quote.

There's some more info here:

http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?action=help;page=post#quote :)

As Martin said, the most important thing is that the quote tags which begin and end the quoted material are not altered or edited.

Note here how the quote code is enclosed within a set of square brackets [...] at either end.

Code: [Select]
[quote author=Jimbo link=topic=2284.msg25358#msg25358 date=1212497991]

I am having trouble using the quote .
Could you "walk" me through ?

[/quote]

Accidentally deleting just one of those square brackets will break up the code and make the post look messy.

You can remove some text from the actual quoted comment (as I did in the example above) and this is often helpful when a post is very long and you only want to address one or two specific points.

Your own comments or response needs to be typed either before or after the quoted comment - i.e. outside of the area which is enclosed in the quote tags. Otherwise they will not appear in the right place.

Please feel free to test out any of the codes here in this topic or even create a new test topic in this board. :)

Apologies for the double post... :toot:

I just remembered that there are also instructions (with screenshots) in the FAQ which show you how to quote more than one person in a single post:

Inserting multiple quotes in a single post

All a bit confusing at first but it really does gets easier with practise. ;)

Thanks, Martin and Sylvia.
That should do it!
