Those look excellent and wonderfully printed.
Maybe Playmobil will eventually realise the attraction a new medieval theme would have for people.

They are gorgeous! Especially the lady
(is there a group order? 0) )

Those are really nice.

"The Bamberg diocese founders from Playmobil: The Archdiocese of Bamberg is offering Emperor Heinrich and Empress Kunigunde as play figures for the Heinrich Festival this weekend. According to the press office of the Archdiocese, they are only available in the shop of the Bamberg Diocesan Museum and are also sold in Bamberg on Sundays between 12 noon and 5 p.m.
The cloaks of the figures are based on the imperial cloaks kept in the Diocesan Museum: the blue star cloak and the white Kunigunde cloak. The sacred couple costs 11.90 euros. Two euros of this went to the children and youth hospice “Star Tent” in Bamberg."

If they were truly wise these would be available on the playmobil website for say six months and even more money would go to the children's hospice.

You guys forget that that is NOT playmobil's policy. Then people would BUY them. Including foreigners. You know how much playmobil dislikes money in general, and HATES foreign money (euros included).
One day, I would love to know the purpose of the company.

Yes... their precious national customers are quite pampered (to a point)... the rest of us trash.. well...
Right now, I need someone who can READ at the customer service.

These look great! :D

That would certainly be nice. Some of the recent Medieval building sets seem to have sold quite well, so perhaps there is a reasonable chance of at least more of those sets being released.

Yeah the retro sets, the Greek myth sets, and the museum sets starting with Luther all should be strong signs to an alert Gnome of Zirndorf that such a direction would be lucrative. Is any such Gnome extant?
-
Is any such Gnome extant?
No.
(learned a new word :) )
-
Are the Gnomes extant or extinct?
-
More pressingly, what is their extent?
-
I'd presume the exclusivity comes from the museum rather than from Playmobil. It's possible they'll turn up on the website at some point, as other museum figures have.

The museum website (https://dioezesanmuseum-bamberg.de/ausstellungen/objekt-des-monats/nachricht/Kaiser-Heinrich-und-Kunigunde-als-Playmobil-Sonderfiguren/) states explicitly that no shipping is offered, so I am sceptical.
I love the set, so will be visiting Bamberg next week and see whether some can be found there. I can also shop for fellow Playmofriends, and will open a dedicated thread where you can express your interest. Go to the market place to sign up (https://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=17904.0/).

Some notes on set 71014, produced in Malta in 2023 by geobra Brandstatter Stiftung & Co. KG for the Diözesanmuseum Bamberg.
This is the front of the box:

And this is a view of the back:

The QR code directs to the company's sustainability blurb (https://sustainability.horst-brandstaetter-group.com/).
Inside there is no information leaflet, just the two figures in a (recyclable) bag.
This is how they look at the front:
Surprisingly, the figures are not named anywhere in the product, but the museum publicity material identifies them as Henry (Heinrich) II (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_II,_Holy_Roman_Emperor), Duke of Bavaria, rex Romanorum, and finally Holy Roman Emperor from 1024 onwards. Previously, he had founded the Diocese of Bamberg (1007), hence the connection to the museum. The other is his wife, Cunigunde of Luxembourg (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cunigunde_of_Luxembourg). Both are venerated as saints in Bamberg.
The figure of Henry has a very attractive, broken-white colour; I hope it shows in the image. Cunigunde is a color match for another medieval promo: Henry the Lion of the Braunschweig Stadtmarketing GmbH (#6925 and #70315).
And this is what they look like at the back:
As always, no new pieces were produced for this promotional set, just known pieces in new colours and printing. The capes completely steal the show, especially because their design copies the pair's original robes that, as relics of the holy imperial couple, have survived one thousand years and are on display in the museum:
(The picture is based on images hosted at the Historisches Lexikon Bayern (https://www.historisches-lexikon-bayerns.de/Lexikon/Mittelalterliche_Kaisergew%C3%A4nder_in_Bayern). Go there for more information.)
Interestingly, Henry's star robe (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sternenmantel_Heinrichs_II.) was a diplomatic gift from southern Italy.
The pattern of the capes nicely match the medieval originals. Their shape most probably does not, even if it is not always clear how the cloth was originally cut. At any rate, it must have been a more substantial garment than the flimsy capes shown here.
Best wishes
StJohn

Thank you for the detailed info :)
They are a beautiful couple, but it is rather lame no info is included, as with the previous ones...
-
Thanks for the great pictures of them. A nice exclusive set.

Excellent writeup, very much appreciated! Definitely true that they're missing a trick by not being more elaborate about the cultural dimension. On the other hand maybe the set was commissioned by old school PM fans who wanted to recapture the glory days! ;D :brownhair:
