Is there a digital list of all Playmo sets around?
« on: November 25, 2011, 20:23:35 »
I was just wondering if anyone has a list of all the playmo sets ever made in a digital format? I have the 2nd edition of the Playmobil Collector book, but I'd love to have some sort of spreadsheet where I can keep track of my collection.

Before I re-invent the wheel, I would like to ask if anyone already has such a thing and is willing to share?

Playmodb has already listed the majority of the playmobil sets: http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/sets.pl

Collectobil has also kept a good, but out of date, archive.

Playmobil.de also has a somewhat incomplete inventory: http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Search-Show?cgid=ARCHIV

Playmodb is by far the most complete, though!

Playmodb indeed is a wonderful site  :) Had forgotten about it. The only thing it won't do is keep track of my collection though. I wonder if I could get hold of their database  ;D

Actually, you can do that...

There is the option to create a list of your sets... http://playmodb.org/playmodb.shtml just below the outlined list of themes...

In a way, it can do that, too..... have you tried the "create a set list of your choosing" feature? You can create a wishlist or an inventory of your collection, or whatever you wish, and then you can bookmark it and save it. It's very important to remember to bookmark it, though, as this is the only way to save it. For example, this is a set list I created: http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/your_set_list.pl?setlist=3037%0D%0A3250%0D%0A3396%0D%0A3430%0D%0A3462%0D%0A3729%0D%0A3731%0D%0A3732%0D%0A3733%0D%0A3747%0D%0A3749%0D%0A3767%0D%0A3773%0D%0A3787%0D%0A3870%0D%0A3815%0D%0A3871%0D%0A3873%0D%0A3874%0D%0A3875%0D%0A4398%0D%0A4399%0D%0A6214%0D%0A6215%0D%0A7659%0D%0A7660%0D%0A7841 (sorry for the long link)

Here's a link to that feature: http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/your_set_list.pl

EDIT...... panos beat me to it!

You know, there's a real live person behind PlaymoDB - me. PlaymoDB is a seven-year labour of love, written in Perl and MySQL. I'm open to collaboration on anything that might be of benefit to the collectors and random toy-owners that use the site - want to have a chat?
PlaymoDB.org has catalogued over FIFTY-FIVE THOUSAND parts in more than 6100 sets. Come and visit to find any set or part numbers you need to know!

Hi sbblabotw,

I'd like to thank you for creating Playmodb; it is really a VERY valuable resource !

In terms of organizing a database, I'm keeping it in a word document where I use the set description from playmodb or other similar sources. It helps me keeping them by themes, whereas the list feature mentioned seems to be by number...

Sure :)

But before giving the impresison that I'm some sort of ultra smart programmer...I'm not known with Perl (I'm a "lets use google for this"  PHP amateur). I do have about a decade worth of knowledge about databases and datamodelling :). Would be fun to discuss some ideas and suggestions!
