I like the idea. But were there hosptials in the middle ages? I thought monasteries did the jobs.
Well if they didn't a monastery would be awesome, with some monks maybe a brewery and a herb garden.
(Maybe you already mentioned it in your first post of this thread, but i did not reread this)

I think I did mention a church but not a monastery yet, could be interesting too although it would probably need to be bigger than the church and I am not sure how far the interest in religious sets would go for children.

It's definatly something to promote amongst religious groups though, if only for their endorsement of such sets.

I think the monastery is a great idea BUT i cannot see how this will equal larger scale volumes of sales for playmobil. The sets being sold today are clearly of a certain appeal to Kids and each set pretty much ' tells a story' and associates loosely with movies and recent trends - that is i suppose the marketing catch and there are lots of examples in current sets, such as the modified sports cars etc .

Such sets would appeal to a limited number of collectors only i think and i doubt ( unfortunatelly ) that they would even be considered by playmobil.

On the otehr hand , the rumors that the bakery DS special has been sold out , might prove a good reason for playmobil to bring back some otehr steck sets from the past and probably ' produce a bigger batch / quantity ' of the bakery and/or other steck sets.

Looking at the current mediaval sets i dont see how a mediaval monastery would fit in ...  :( :( :(.. so the only option for us is a custom one !!!

There are some really great ideas in this thread for sets ,  doubt these will be produced , BUT a great set of ideas for customs etc etc   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well yes, as I said the monistary might be too big. A church or chapel could work though. They did release a modern wedding church after all.

They could really appeal to the city building aspect which is prominent in many videogames too, encouraging children to build villages, cities, large castles and such.

And in pretty much any (MMO)RPG there are prominent taverns and guild houses. Having something more civilian in the medieval theme does not seem that much of a stretch from that.

Playing Skyrim myself lately as well.  :)

Definatly not a game for children, but they would still be aware of games like that.. I remember being drawn to games above my age range all the time as a kid. Seeing how Lego uses licenses for movies that definatly arent suitable for children to watch I'd say its alright for playmobil to just be inspired by videogames above the target age range.

My son and husband are currently in awe of skyrim too. It has the most amazing graphics, doesnt it. Yes, so many Playmobil ideas. How I wish they would let some of us loose in the design team.

Well, that sounds a lot like what Playmobil is doing now with their multi-player online game Playmobil World. It features--to my surprise--lots of framework houses and Steck  :o! By the way, it's going to come out next summer in Germany.

Excellent information Sir Ace, thank you !!!!!

So there is hope after all for steck i think, perhaps playmobil will realise its the best and the recent bakery sales might help bring back steck sets , EVEN A  3666 I DARE SAY !!! as i a sure the current vote will prove , its the best set ever and playmobil should be coomunicated that so many want that set back, a 3666 back in the DS catalogue ( i dare not say yet a new steck castle ) with klickies / banners  , the lot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
