boiler in black or boiler in red and first segment and the funnel (stack) in black (like the »Länderbahnfarben«) and golden rings (e.g. like THIS one [KLICK!])

Now That is something to try for.  I just need to get some good gold paint.
Do you have (where you live) spray colors for cars?
This color (Auto K of Kwasny) is very robust [KLICK!]. You can play with the colored models.

Are the hand grips silver? Then I would take silver instead of golden rings.

Yes they are silver.  I may try the silver on the boiler parts and a ring of silver around the stack.

wow, it's looking good!  You're going to fabricate a new roof for it?

How bout the slanted "pilars" at the front of the boiler on the sides..... should those be red too perhaps?  I like your silver accents.  I wonder how copper/gold might look.  I also wonder if you might find a way to add rivets to the panel seems?  Just food for thought.  It looks good already!

Very awesome paint job on the metallic parts!

I know the pillars would look good in red.  I started thinking about it after i put it back together.  It still needs some more detail pieces, but those will come as i find them.

The new roof and the smoke stack look much better than the old one(s)!
(only the smoke stack is for my taste perhaps a little bit too long, but possible)

Thanks.  I've also been debating on shorting the smoke stack.
