I suppose it could just be an old reference to theUS 5810 Pirate Corsair:

BUT, the 5810 has a dark hull which contrasts definitely against its white sails, whereas the one on the 5948/9 boxes has a hull that seems to match the shade of the sails (white), and the jolly roger insignias are completely different from each other (the 5810 insignia features crossed swords which intersect behind the skull, whereas the one on the 5948/9 boxes features BONES which cross beneath a completely different skull.  To my knowledge there are no other Schooners with all-white sails.  Unless this is just a generic shape of a playmobil schooner taken and used with artistic liberty for the box art with no intention of releasing it in a new form.  I WISH though

When the 5778 Skull Pirate Ship was released, it feated a black silohuette of the then retired (correct me if I'm wrong) 5736 BlackBeard Ship in the background.  So it could be a case of just reusing a classic playmo shape in the background.  I HOPE we get a white schooner though.

Come to think of it, this retired ship's shadow was also featured on the Pirate corsair 5810 as well.

not printed catalogs but they're on the catalog of the US website

sounds exciting if they release a white schooner - do the pieces in the backgrounds always need to exist? i know the schooner has been re-released more than 1 time, just in different colors but sometimes PM puts unexisting stuff in their pictures (like a ferris wheel in the background of the circus outdoor scenery)
I do believe a ferris wheel was an item they at one time considered producing, though, but it turned out to be just too expensive. I reeeeally wish they would release one, though.

A ferris wheel would be easy and relatively inexpensive to produce with system X if they felt like it... just saying...  ;)
Someday, I will organize my stuff, I promise.

I really want a state fair theme.

But back on topic... a white schooner would be nice, too! ;D
