I don't know where you learned differently, but 'Verenigde Provinciën' is in fact the name for what we now know as the Netherlands. I studied history in Leuven and my textbook of that period states this:

They were called 'De Nederlanden' (together with 'Flanders') but when Gelderland, Holland, Zeeland, Utrecht, Friesland, Overijsel en Groningen seperated in the 16th century, they formed 'De Verenigde Provinciën', 7 in total. So the name of your ship is 100% correct.  ;)

* modified: And btw, these photo's are stunning!!

You're right!  :)
I'm getting old I guess, demention is lurking around  :uhoh: :omg:
"Verenigde Provinciën" is after the seperation, "De Nederlanden" is before.
I think I was mistaking because in my heart I wish the seperation in the 16th century (not the later one in the 19th century after the shortlived reunification  ;) ) would never have taken place.

Some better pics...

Not shown here is the change of the cabinwindows; I swapped the yellow ones for softer looking golden ones after taking the pics, to have the ship somewhat less brightlly coloured.

you must be a lot like me when it comes to your ships;  I've had my ships for years but I STILL sometimes stare at them for hours and hours to appreciate the little details.  I wish enthusiasts like yourself were local so we could show and tell and talk ships in person.  that'd be so fun!

I love the enhancements you've made to your galleon!  I'm very jealous and can't wait for this ship to arrive in USA next year.  Lucky duck!
Ahoy, Pirates, Hoist the Colours!

yes, that's true!  ;D
I can enjoy sitting in the couch just watching my ships, crews, soldiers etc. And if I see something that doesn't quite fit like I think it should, or if something could be bettered, then it HAS to be changed! (as long as I have the necessary parts or technical skills that is).

I wish enthusiasts like yourself were local so we could show and tell and talk ships in person.  that'd be so fun!

Indeed!!  :-\
I don't know any other belgian Playmobil/historical ship-fan(atic)... Since Macgayver and I talked about building the Unicorn, I didn't have the opportunity to talk in depth about ships with other Playmo-collectors. I do meet a few other collectors, but they are into many other themes so there never is much specific shiptalk...

Luckily we can exchange some thoughts here!  :)
