A few days after my camera failed during the mid of the review-making of the 5135-ship, I got it working again.
I've turned the 5135 used in the review into a 17th-century English Navy frigate, I hope to post pics of the ship (if I have enough time
) in a separate thread later this week.
But here some pics of another 5135, the
"Black Prince", which I'm using as a pirate ship.
It isn't a big customization, but changes to the basic 5135 include:* 5135-stickers are left off.* The 5135's red anchor-wheel and stearing-wheel are replaced with darkbrown ones. These darkbrown ones only came with an (ugly) blue 5778-pirates ship, which was a US/Canada exclusive based on the 3050/3750-mould.
* I took out the 5135-"cargodeck" and replaced it with a "canondeck" from a 3940/3286-ship. (Yes, we can!
)
* 12 canons are installed (8 on the gundeck below and 4 on the topdeck), each with a darkred gun-carriage and silver old-style gunbarrels (the ones that still shoot canonballs).It is
important to use the old-style gunbarrels below deck in the bow-section, because the new arrow-shooting barrels have a shooting-handle on top which makes these guns to high for the 5135's closed bow-upperdeck.
* I put on 2 skull-sails (the ones without skull are on the English frigate).
* Someone made me
a custom sticker with the ship's name, and I applied it on the ship's stern.First pics; canons (guns in sailor's language) and a 3940-gundeck on the 5135-hull...
