ROUGH TERRAIN FORKLIFT
« on: August 14, 2011, 14:35:31 »
Hi Everyone

This is a JCB Rough terrain forklift truck:

They are used on building sites or farms where a conventional forklift truck with its small wheels would get stuck.

These machines have 4 wheel drive, and large chunky tires to make sure they don't get stuck.

And here is mine! :D :D :D

In the cab, we can see I have added a joystick lever from a helicopter to act as the controls for the forklift:

Front view:

Under the bonnet, I packed it full of weight so the machine is very heavy, but can comfortably hold the heaviest of weights without tipping:

Here are a few 'Work in progress' pics :)

Here are the two donor vehicles that were sacrificed for this project:

Thanks to Verity (naflibomyalp) for the tractor

I felt a little bad as she had just bought a new roof for it :-[

The remains of the forklift truck after I had finished with it :sorrow:

After dismantling the tractor, my first job I did was to paint all the parts requiring black, black:

The only things that I haven't painted are the mast and the axle clips, as function would have been lost.

Here's how I made the flashing light:

I got an orange light and systemx connector from the space theme, and put them together to make a beacon.
I made the protection bar from cutting up an old camping chair! :!:

The bottom of the connector was filed down so that the beacon cleared the bar.

I forgot to take a pic of the body unpainted, but here it is getting it's last coat of yellow paint:

In the pic you can see where I have cut off the front mudgaurds and fixings for the front loader.

At the back, there was just the tow hitch, so I had to shape the front of the forklift to fit onto the rear of the tractor, and I filled in the gap at the top with that engine/winch piece that I don't know what it came off of!

I hope you like my custom

Damo :)

Thanks, Ace!

Simple?! It took me a whole week to do! :D (but perhaps that's my inefficiency!)

Well, I meant the overall look was simple as if it were a real Playmobil vehicle  :). Now that I see all the work you put into it, I can see why it took a week! Once again, nice work!
