Here is another eyebrow window.

So, is there 2 of the medieval barns with house or are there 1 of those and two of the pirate dungeons?  Or 4 pirate dungeons ...

I'm suspecting two of the medieval house with barns due to the number of roof pieces and gable ends.

Five of these female end pieces.  More evidence of the 3888's.

Here is the difference between the newer and older Steck pieces:

(note the hinges being moulded right to the older pieces while the newer ones have separate pieces that pop in - if the hinge broke on the old one, that door piece is "toast", this way, with the newer one, you just replace the black hinge piece and you're good to go!

On the tabs you will see the newer ones have an extra 'bump' to help them hold together better (the old ones do fall apart much too easy - which is why some of these sets were glued):

Note the height difference between the old (can I use "first version" and "second version" Steck?) and newer Steck gates:

Here they are from the back.  Forgive the poor photo - Ipod again and it was getting dark out tonight when I did this.

Anyone know what this sub-construction section is from?

Any ideas?

The open framework in the last picture suggests Western to me.

The missing corners suggest mice have been present!

wow! so much new stuff... I missed a lot yesterday... ok from the last pic, as I have not read all yet... that is a section of the 3443 farm house... it seems, Wesley, that you have more than one or two of each house! its quite hard to find so old instructions. I'll try to reasemble the houses and take some pics...

So if there are three of the "Castle wall with eyebrow window" pieces ...

which part are you refering to exactly? --- oh ok I read it now.. yeah Tim is correct. But if you have not found the black prison bars piece, which is the size of a plain castle wall, then yes these are from the barn and house set.

that yellow and blue gate is from: 3030 - Adventure - Knights* so that one can be there as well.

As for the chimneys, there are only three houses using chimneys 3441 bakery, 3448 medieval inn, and 3455 pottery house... so again maybe there is more than one or two of each. And your reasoning about the round towers is probable.

---edit---

keep your eye on this thread Wesley, I hope it prooves useful

Yes, it does look very Western, doesn't it.  The side rails look like hitching rails.

However, it is this part:

and, apparently, was only used on the 'Old Houses' (Medieval houses).

Missing corners? ???

I was going to say we can get that piece now with the release of the new bakery but NO!  That part has not been remade!!!  I wonder why.  ???

Yes, I do love Steck.

I do like the look of the Knights Empire Castle (3268) - but the walls are shorter than Steck (so it`s even more out of scale!), it has very limited expansion possibilities, it does not look as realistic, it is expensive, etc, etc, etc.

I even bought a lot of extra wall pieces for one off ebay a couple years ago so I could expand one I would get but I have thought about it and I don`t think I would get one now.  It just pales in comparison.  It would be like getting a Lada after having a 1969 Daytona Charger ...

And  very good reference this is Sire. Steck is at a different level all together, i doubt i will be putting together the lion castle for my mediaval set up, just not good compared to steck !!!

Okay, I haven't added to this in a while.  Sorry.  Sometimes life seems to get in the way ...

Anyway, put together the Snake River Ranch (3805).  You will note the blue doors/windows (whatever they are supposed to be at that odd height (I know they are for access to the animals and are at animal head height, but they just don't look right)) have been painted black.  As well as some detail trim.  It looks good that way.  I guess it was to make it fit in more and look more medieval.

I don't know, though.  I may just have it for my western stuff.  It does look good - but like all first version Steck, it is hard to keep it together.  System X does work better than this.

However, 2nd generation Steck castle pieces hold together better.

Now I just have to put the other wall hook pieces with it.
