Recent eBay Steck Win

Fairly recently I won a nice auction on eBay for a box of Steck castle parts.
The box was this one - for set 3446





It was priced at a starting auction price of $75 plus about $20 in shipping to me. That's a little high for this set especially when there is a lot of discoloration, which there is.

Here are 2 of the pictures from the original auction. If you are a Steck fan you may notice what I did that made it worth bidding on. In the first remember you are looking at a top view

Here is a photo I took after arrival, much more obvious what the first clue was that made me look hard at the auction.



I forgot to bid on it and the auction ended with no bidders. Fortunately they relisted it and I bid that time. I won the auction with no other bids. About $100 is a little high if it was just the 3446 mentioned in the auction. It's a great price though for a nearly complete 3446 and 3445 - with the 3445 Guard Tower being complete with the hard to find balcony, bell, and bell frame pieces.

I had to bleach soak a lot of the parts to get the brown color knocked down, but they mostly came out fine. A few are still brown but not any significant ones. The tower will be making a cameo appearance in the upcoming Marketon Joust. I really like this tower, more than I thought I would. Int he end, one of my better eBay buys for certain.

It is indeed alot of monies, but you have got a lot of the rare Steck pieces in there!

I spotted the balcony right away - that is usually the first thing I look for in any Steck auction.  With the bell, too, that's a great buy - congrats, Tim!  :)

Nice win indeed. I am about to buy 20 wall pieces and 10 connectors for 16 quid, but post will be the same price again.
