I haven't seen the Italian ones before but there was a whole series of these available in English many years back. They are known as "Playmobil Playtower" books and were published by Readers Digest in the late 1990s - out of print now so hard to come by in unused condition.

My son had one when he was little called "Sir Roland Saves Lion Castle" which included a knight figure. I also have an ACW-themed one with a soldier figure packed away, "The Stampede at Fort Glory." :)

Btw, there was also a range of pop-up books for young children which are quite cute.

Here's a UK shop selling the pop-up books at reasonable prices (as opposed to some of the greedy sellers on Amazon ::)).
They are secondhand but described as being in very good condition.

Claudia Schott's page has some examples of other Playmobil book series:

Before I really started collecting Playmobil, I remember the boys had two or three books with figures.  One was the skin diver and the other had a fireman with it., I think the other may have had a knight, but I'm not sure.
Unfortunately the books are long gone  :-[  but we still have the skin diver and the fireman from them.

Wow, I'm surprised I never saw them! We always took readers digest, so you'd think I would have seen them advertised. Of course, I wasn't collecting then, but still I would think they'd catch my eye. Thanks for the link, sylvia, I may have to consider this, ;D

If I ever come across those, I'll have to get them too. I want to start endoctrinating my kids early!
