The chronicles of Mittland Part 03 Time of the wolves

Against the supremacy of the wolves and the combat capability of the wolf warriors the guardians did not have a chance. They were struggled down and defeated. Attracted of the combat noise lady CHRONA appeared with further soldiers also. She looked at the happening and recognised the situation. Then she shouted her instructions over the place, „my faithful ones, destroyed them!“ 

[Vauban]

But the soldiers of the lady were defeated one after the other one. „No“, she cried out, "nobody, no human and no wolf, and only quite no dwarf will destroy my plans!“ For a short moment she closed her eyes and concentrated. Then she hurled her left hand with fingers spread far forward. From her hand a bright radiating fire ball separated and met the first of the wolf warriors.

This happened so fast that the warrior had no more possibility of evading to the fire ball. He passed in the magic flame, not even ash remained of him. Lady CHRONA's next attack aimed at one of the wolves, and also he suffered the same fate as the warrior.

When lady CHRONA started the next attack, Deman YA intervened. „Witch, I don't know, how you found the way here, but you will never carry the victory off!“ The air around the highest pit master crackled, and a second fire ball developed between Deman YA's hands and repelled the attack of the witch. Lady CHRONA shouted loudly, when she saw, that her attack remained ineffectively. Again she swore to deadly magic, which countered Deman YA with his power. The fury of the witch increased in rage, ever faster followed each other her attacks. Only with trouble the highest pit master of the dwarves could resist it.

ARN called to the remaining ones. „Hurry up! We are helpless on this battleground, but we have to fulfill another task.“ Searching they looked around. Two new ways lay before them. A large gate and a door hid unknown areas from ARN and his companions. The wolf man told the second wolf warrior to take with the dwarves the door. He took himself with the last wolf the large gate with LILIAN and the third warrior.

Let us see ... but first:

Chapter XVIII.

ARN and his companions could naturally not know that by this gate the dragon attendants had led their favorites only few instants before. The four stepped by the gate and arrived into a large corridor, more a tunnel made into the rock. At the end of this tunnel they discovered two small caves, which were used as stable for the dragons. Heavy iron gates prevented an escaping of the primeval creatures from their enclosures. „The corridor is here to end “, LILIAN determined, „whether there are still further stables with dragons?“ „No, these two are singular. Enjoy their sight! It will be the last, what you will see on this earth.” Unnoticed by the four the dragon attendants had come closer to them.

The three guardians were terrible to look at them. Parts of the body were missing to everyone - whether eye, hand or leg. Guarding the dragons demanded a high tribute of the attendants. They held heavy double axes in their hands, ready to use its. The wolf attacked the first one. The wolf warrior approached with his sword over his head the second attendant. The third one however came limbing to LILIAN and ARN. Despite his missing leg he was not looking less horrible than the other guys.
