As the Dragons approach the roadblock, the two leaders meet in the middle. The Red Lion leader comes face to face with Sir Godfrey, the leader of the Black Knights who was commissioned by the King to lead this convoy.
Godfrey: "Let us pass. We will pay a reasonable fee to pass through your land with no violence"
Red Lion Leader: "Not so! You will keep your gold and return to your land or suffer death by the sword of the Red Lion"
Godfrey: "We WILL pass through, with or without your consent. We have offered a fair price and you are being unreasonable and will therefore pay for your insolence toward those who mean you no harm."
With that said, the Red Lion Leader lunged at Godfrey with his spear and his first knight gave the signal to attack.
A bloody melee followed...though vastly outnumbered, the Dragons were better armed and were mounted cavalry. The horse-drawn wagon carrying the chest whirled around to avoid the skirmish and took off in the opposite direction with a mounted escort. Better that they leave this moribund scene and return with the gold than the alternative...
