I knew of Florida Gotors, but not of those who live in the Mississippi.
The
Florida Gators all live in Gainesville, Florida ...
I have never been to Louisianna.
Some day, Maybe.
Louisiana ? Hmmm ... It's different ...
As you know.
Meg, the Mississippi River is very special to the history of the United States. It starts way up there by you (in fact the St. Croix River comes from Wisconsin and empties into the Mississippi). It then travels south to New Orleans, Louisiana (but it's still another 100 miles plus before it finally ends in the Gulf of Mexico). It has been said that if a drop of water were to begin the journey from Lake Itasca (at the Minnesota headwaters of the Mississippi) it would take more than three months to find its way to the Gulf of Mexico.
The old Mississippi Steamboats moved people, cargo and goods up and down the length of this great river. They were the subject of songs and stories. Some of the most famous were written by Mark Twain.
It would be quite fitting for Playmobil to commemorate this very interesting period of history with the release of a Playmobil Mississippi River Steamboat !!!
All the best,
Richard
