i am sorry to disappoint you all but a klicky was already sent to space.
it was done last november and here's the report on "el mondo" (one of spain's leading newspapers) - http://www.elmundo.es/elmundo/2010/11/11/ciencia/1289480860.html.
the video that goes with it is really wonderful (you will have to wait untill the comercial spot finishes)
i will try to translate what is said:"A little paper plane wit less than 1 meter, manned by a 10 cm playmobil astronaut reached the limits that separate earth's atmosphere from space.
The ship flied over an altitude of 27 km (90.000 feet), 3 times higher than a commercial jet.
But we should not applaud the small astronaut sitting in front of the paper plane but instead 3 british space aeronautics fans.
Neither NASA nor any big aeronautical company are responsible for this and there was no Cape Canaveral launch.
The launching site was Piedrahita, a small place in Ávila and the spaceship landed at Pelayos de la Presa (Madrid).
Steve Daniels, Lester Hines and John Oates designed the 90cm wingspan plane after they met eachother through The Register, a tecchnological website.
The project was named by its authors "Operation Paris" (the name of the city stands for Paper Airplane Released In Space) and its goal was to elevate the plane with the help of a helium baloon that made it go almost as high as 30 km and then released it already in the stratosphere.
The opening flight took place last October 28 and it lasted 90 minutes.
The airplane was baptized by its authors as Vulture 1, suggesting there will be some sequels, and it was equipped with 2 video cameras.
The spaceship descended with the help of a parachute and landed on a pinetree wood near a Madrid's small village located 100 km away from the launching spot.
The authors confessed that everything started up as a joke, but a 9.500 euros joke payed by a company called Peer One Networking.
"Our intention was to reboost Britain's space program" says Lester Haines joking.
Haines himself writes on The Register website "Our Playmonaut hero was the only one who could enjoy the magnificent view shown on the video".
Here's a picture that was published with this article.
like i said before i am sorry if i disappointed you.
i knew this (and assumed all the community also knew it) through PLAYMOGAL - http://playmogal.freeforums.org/ - a portuguese speaking playmobil forum.
