Andy, this concept is nothing new. Back in the late 60's/early 70's the US army was already experimenting with exo-skeletons.
Ya, but the layout is MPS’s design. The system you referred to was a four-legged (¿or was it six?) design. THAT got re-used by Captain Power And The Soldiers Of The Future. (Yes, I had one. Yes, it switched sides. Actually, three or four times. :hmm: then it got stolen by a neighbor. >:()
I like the idea to put these playmo exoskeletons against some playmo T-Rex etc etc
Like Mecha Su-Dia in a Genesis Pit… Hell, I’d ACTUALLY pay to see that… :yippee: :**:
If I’m jealous, you did SOMETHING right. Keep it up. :D
I Support Operation Anime Storm..

Six legs, but that wasn't the same thing - the one you're referring to was testing forms of movement through difficult terrain. It was even proposed as a lunar vehicle.

The exo-skeletons still are in tests today, from something bulky like the one you showed to much smaller units, but the concept shows up every once in a while since the 70's. The US army is currently testing a legs + arms unit (can be used only for the legs, for marches, or for arm + legs, for lifting/carrying heavy weights).
Cheers!

I am sorry but the movie Avatar was nothing new and the ideas were all taken from elsewhere. Really not that creative of a story in my opinion.

I would agree that playmobil is trying to capitalize on the purchasing power of movie merchandise but seeing as their design, production, marketing and distribution is so time consuming it seem so late to the party every time.
If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

You can not see it due to the shadow but the reason he is there is he is unable to let go of his S&W pistol

I hope these robot skeleton things are around $20 as I also think an army of these would be so neat, maybe my clowns could drive them  ;D

Well well, I have been out of the loop. Completely missed this theme until today with the latest product reviews.

The sets reminded me immediately of the movie Aliens, not Avatar, and I have seen both. As usual, it seems PM are taking their new themes from movies, or perhaps incorporating movie ideas into their themes, and I guess that's inevitable.

The mech-walker will be a big hit with me, I'm guessing around the $18-20 mark for a single one, so I'll be assembling a team of at least three. I'll probably end up getting at least one of everything, just as I did with the Top Agents, even if the sets are likely to gather dust for a while afterwards. I love all the Playmobil robots, and I'm certain the human race will colonize other planets some day, but maybe not within my lifetime. If we hadn't had the economic meltdown then I think we'd have had an international Moonbase within 20 years, and a Mars Base within 50.
