The mech is a 100% certain buy for me .

And sorry George, I didn't see any 3 m high blue aliens there, nor six-legged horses, so I fail to see what this has to do with Avatar .
Cheers!

I don't know if it has anything to do with Avatar or not, nor do I particularly care. All I know is aside from my bias because I'm so playmobil-crazy, I think this has to be the best space-themed playset(s) I have ever seen, and definitely deserves to win many awards, particularly this one: http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Product-Show?pid=5149&cgid=Future . Kids are actually learning about possibilities of future scenarios like this in school, and I think it's great for them to have a toy that lets them explore the idea with their imaginations. I think they've outdone themselves with this one.

The structure is Avatar like Primus,
That is what I believe George meant.

I do not agree Bonnie,
this set is not at all like what our planet colonies will look like
in my opinion. :hmm:

Well, I personally don't believe we ever will have colonies like this on other planets. I just think it's a good way for a kid to imagine these things. Not wild about the darksters, however.

Thanks for the link, Ds dad.  I'm not struck with the new theme, so you're not alone, Luis.

Has anyone else thought that the space craft that lands on the small platform structure just after the start looks very much like a flying black and white cow?

Structure as in buildings?

The only structure you see in Avatar, apart from the base and alien tree house are those portable labs, that look like a cargo shipping container, so I still can't see any resemblance in the buildings of those sets. The only thing that would look like something from Avatar is the mech/walker/exo-skeleton. But then you could also say the sets "look too much like Alien II".
Cheers!

Maybe I have to see the movie again, but doesn't the base kind of look like that? ???

You would be really surprised how close we are to being able to colonize other planets.
Did you know if we only raised Mars 10*F, it would release enough carbon dioxide to form a thicker, livable atmosphere.
And scientists already have a number of theories that we could in fact do right now to raise the temp.
No new technology would be needed.

The structure and the exoskeleton and the breathing /mark apparatus are clearly copied from AVATAR  and in that sense some element of originality is missing. I am sure if they had blue native aliens the whole think would require a licence to be produced etc etc .

I dont have a  clue what our colonies if if there are ever any as we hardly manage to keep our planet going and we continuously destroy it and overpopulate ( see the sci fi movie cargo quite an interesting option is presented there) BUT I dont agree with you Bonniebeth  :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: that this is first of all a colony as i dont see any colonial aspects in it really it  looks more like a military outpost to me and also i think the playmospace original series that resembled 2001 space odyssey caused quite a sensation when they were released i doubt this new series wil last more than a couple of seasons.

I would have much prefered to see spaceships more realistic than the system x rubbish ones and closer to the playmospace series that was more ' NASA oriented ' and educational. The klickies there collected rocks and had  vehicle equipment like a big drill and a transport , the whole idea was peacefull adn educational one of the sets looks just like Columbia Space Shuttle etc . This new series is too much like AVATAR , its NOT space as there are no spaceships  and its not peaceful but rather violent . Ok , mediaval are even worse with their weapons etc etc nevertheless i detect a lot of modern weaponry looking at these sets in more details. Hans Beck wouldnt approve end of story and Giorginetto after careful consideration doesnt either  :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

Just because the advertising presents these as two opposing sides doesn't mean you have to play that way. I see the darker guys more like your typical asteroid miners while the others are more a scientific team. As far as the modern war thing goes I think that really translates as "we are a German company and can't do anything even remotely like the Nazis so we are going to just skip over the whole period" They have started doing some figures with modern camo on them and I would not be surprised if eventually they do some Peacekeepers force sets some day. They just wont ever go back to the 20th century in a battle theme.
