A Modern "War" How Are We Going to Do It?

I am thinking it might be fun to have a Holiday Host army. Rabbit people, elves and Santa Clauses, ghosts and skeletons from Halloween etc.

A Dinosaur Army would be good too.

Ooh, both good ideas! The dinosaurs could be modern if they are animatronic!

Well since this is clearly a for fun topic I see no reason why reality should rear it's ugly head. Incongruities are part of what makes having more than one theme fun. The phone booth in Playtuga, the soda machine in the castle basement etc.

Yes, you're right, that's the beauty of playmobil! However, i was thinking in the modern world, you can find a way to explain throwing almost any theme in there, and make it still technically modern. Like if someone wanted to use knights, they could be SCA members, though of course they would need silly weapons to keep it just for fun. Blacksmithing tools maybe?

Wars are complex and tricky to do with so many different things going on.
What about treating this like a tournament? Where each army would have a champion, and we could use the die rolls and scoring method used at Winterhaven?

The policeman attacks with his speed paddle but scores only a glancing blow, the zookeeper uses her bucket and scores a solid hit.

Yes, I was thinking something with die rolls, however I think having armies is a lot of fun.... I'm thinking on how we could work that out, because there is the obvious problem of how do two whole armies get together for a photo story. Clearly not easy. Maybe for now we should just start making a city map and building our armies, similar to how the kingdoms map project is going, and then let members start working out among themselves what else they want to do with it? Though really, something more organized would be nice.

Well each army could just present itself in photos. All the actual 'fighting' could be done on a map. I am thinking it might look a lot like the game Risk with the map being a city grid.

Actually, since it's a city it could all be a war over who controls what properties for taxing purposes. The more territory you have the more taxes you get.

Hm, that is a good thought. I need to start drawing up a map, or I may get Chris to do it.
