Asian Animal Enclosures - Revised
« on: March 08, 2011, 03:38:03 »
I posted a review of the Asian Animal Enclosures set 4852 recently, but felt the enclosures were too small and didn't make as much sense as I would like.
So here is my enlarged and revised set.

First is the revised tiger area. I have used the cave rock from 4172 - Brachiosaurus in Rocky Territory as a cave for the tigers.
I've also enlarged using some rockies piled up to make a wall replacing the bamboo fence.

OK so toucans aren't Asian, but I really like them and they always make things look so tropical. It probably escaped from the South American exhibit next door. :D

Here is a view down the walkway

Here is the new Panda exhibit. I thought the Chinese looking wall section made much more sense with the Pandas than it did with the Orangutans so I've used it here. There will be new bamboo plants later this year in Germany, so perhaps these plants will be replaced at some point.

For the Orangutans I've created a new space. I've used a couple of different older fence types. The tree as you see is much bigger and better suited. I've used the lighter grey rocks since the waterfall piece was never released in the dark grey.

To fill in an empty spot I used the Penguin set from Toys R US I just got, but have added lizards-salamanders. Their size is a better fit for a small exhibit like this one I think.

To finish up here is a view from the Japanese Garden back through the Torii Gate towards the Asian area.

I'm pretty happy with the way this all turned out. It takes up an area about 3 by 4 feet.

It looks great, Tim! Isn't it amazing how much room zoo layouts take up? The tiger exhibit is great, so beautiful and green. And you had the same thought as me about the chinese-looking wall; it is much better for pandas! The Japanese garden really adds a lot to the setup. Magnificent!

BTW, toucans may not be asian, but it's very playmobil-esque to mix these things up a bit.  :P They aren't nearly as good with this as they are with historical accuracy.

Great zoo Tim! :wow:
Can you answer me a question,
Is it possible to combine multiple of these pieces to form a wall?

And would the top design fit?
So it looks something like this:

Thanks in advance! :wow:
