Has anyone bought the 4746 Special Knight yet?
« on: February 26, 2011, 17:11:08 »
I got one from Brussels some days go and I can't understand PMs decision to have him wear his scabbard on his right  ::) Is it because he happens to be left handed? But if he IS left handed he cant hold his shield properly in his right hand - the sword's hilt sticks out too much.  ::) One other gripe is that I wish theyd given him the sword and axe in dark gray, to go with his armour - as it is there's two different shades of grey that I don't particularly like.

I don't like this figure that much, however I guess it's useful for parts etc. Still, why does it always feel, nowadays, that specials are just figures cobbled together for the sole purpose of getting rid of unwanted parts and making a quick buck?

Hi,

I've got a few of this guy as well, mainly for the parts. I agree that the scabbard and sword do not work terribly well, but there are still lots of things to do with the parts for customs.

(I would love to do a full review and share some customs based on parts from this special, but given the reason noted here: http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=7159.0 I probably won't have a chance in the near future).

I don't much care for the blazon on the shield -- the symbol looks like it belongs to  a clan of Klingons, or perhaps a Romulan paramilitary unit, rather than in a realistic European medieval setting. Oh well -- that won't stop me from cobbling together a small group representing an adventurous knight errant from a far-away land with his party of henchmen...

Cheers,

AndrewL

yes I also find a little odd the symbol on the shield... but I like the clicky a lot. What I can't understand and I don't like is the shield handle. the clicky can't grab it from above... strange decision they made changing this.

Lots of ppl using it for spare parts, I see. Mmm.

I was watching Boorman's Excalibur yesterday and I thought that it would be a good idea for PM to start producing horse saddles with places for the sword and the shield. A bit like the cowboy ones: you know where you can put the rifle? You could put a sword there instead.

I did buy it  - as I collect all Specials, I did have to.
But to be honest - I don't like it at all.
I don't like the sword; it's just too large to be kept in this scabberd and it's too large to be used in a normal belt.
I don't like the scabberd; it's just awkward in that spot and it's useless in carrying the sword as the sword keeps falling out of it
I don't like the handle of the shield..
I don't like the heraldry
I don't like the thingy on top of his helmet
And I don't like his armour much too.

I do like the colours used though
and the form of his shield
and his legs; which seem to me to be much more like real knights legs
and I do like his armourbits on the arms

But that's just me ...
