Simple is often the best and this simple one is superb.  Like Panos, my first thought was the American Revolution or Rebellion as we know it in England.  But definitely not the American Civil War with that hat, unless he was hoping the opposition would take him to be a ghost from the past and ignore him!

BTW, where do the arms and the body come from, the colour and design are very smart?
