What do you do when there is a new klicky introduced
« on: February 04, 2011, 11:31:17 »
that looks better than you existing members??

The new pirate is given away in the toy fair 2011 and he looks so cool that my older pirates are pale in comparison in different aspects. You guys can view the pic from playclick news section. He got long orange hair~~!! Very lovely indeed!!

The one with the black coat you mean? It's not as nice as the captain that came with the DVD, I think :)

I don't like the 'meanie' eyebrows.

But yes, it happens. Having said that, there's still a certain charm to the older klickies. I mean, the new knights are nice, but the ones from the 90s are still very attractive too, despite their age.

I dont think such comparisons are that easy to make . For example looking at the very first pirate captain in black with the wooden leg and the red feather on his original hat , there is a certain magic and ambiance abou this klicky that no modern ones have. Anotehr example ( own opinion of course) is comparing a Nuremberg guard in his all shiny armour to the latest unshaved mediaval klickies that have no helmets . Again in this case the old klickies are far bertter in my opinion.

I think new klickies are definitely more complicated , it seems to be leave much less capabilitiries for customisation by original playmobil  accessories and i stronglky believe from 1978 to today that i have been buying playmobil that the 'golden era 'for playmobil ( 1994-1998 era)  was back then and not now and is not likely to be repeated easily....

Every one has their opinion and there are many factors which guide their choice to the conclusion. A lot will agree on certain points but in the end it is still just opinions.

If you personally do not like the look of the classic Klickies standing along side your modern ones you could always seperate them out onto different ships.
If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

Well, I collect modern/zoo theme mostly. And in that theme, it seems to me the new, more modern klickys are getting better and better. All my old classic paddle foot and hat hair zookeepers and families are retired. I still have them and they do have a certain charm to them, but I don't actually use them in my dioramas. I like the more midern, realistic clothes, and the better hairstyles for my dioramas.

In the end, we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.

Of coz the older ones are very attractive still, but it sometimes happens when one klicky become your number one favourite instead of the existing one that used to be the leading character in your collection or story

It is so much like Buzz lightyear and Woody from toystory. The 2011 pirate klicky is just an example, as I want to see people sharing their idea and opinion

I really prefer the 21st century klickies.  So much so that I have left all my childhood klickies at my parents house.  The kids play with them when we are there but really they pale in comparison to the ones we have at home.

With new pirates I'll usually add a couple to my collection, customising the extra one. There's no desire for uniformity in pirates, so I don't want many.

For uniformed militaristic figures like soldiers and knights, I'll buy 1-20, depending on their looks. I don't want to build huge warmongering armies, just a unit I can use to man a watchtower or attend a jousting convention.

For Police, Hospital and Firemen, as they're not my main themes, I'm generally ignoring the new releases. I might add a Special like the SWAT Officer, but my existing units are good enough to do a photostory or just play with.

The new Western sets, when they arrive, will be tricky. I already have banks, stagecoaches and Sheriffs' offices coming out of my ears so there's nothing there I need or particularly want. The figures are just figures, nothing special.

On a slight tangent, What I'd like to see in a new Western release is a log cabin for foresters and people who live out of town, a ranch for a cattle baron, and a generic town building which could be used for a store, undertaker, doctor, barber, newspaper office, blacksmith etc., i.e. all those things that collect and prosper in a town,  or just people who live on main street. I might be able to adjust the carry along bank/sheriff's office to do these jobs, but it'd be nicer if Playmobil recognised the need for them and created the necessary signs and accessories.

I love the new klickies!! They may dont have the nostalgic magic of the early playmobil klickies, but they are more sophisticated and offer limitless possibilities of customisation.
However, in my opinion, many of these new klickies have no distinctive personality, as I like my klickies to have, so I take them apart once they are out of the box and reassemble them as I see them best in my eyes!!!

I really love the new Kllicky's. I am not t all taken with most of the old ones, however I didn't have playmobil as a child, so have no memories associated with the older lines. I did buy a vintage roundabout set once and the quality was so poor, the klicky's were so fragile, I was very disappointed.
