If the data is correct, rather smaller:

Dimensions of the 3940 (US 3286), from my catalogues:
L 70cm x W 24cm x H 56cm

Dimensions of the 5135, from the official website and the 2011-catalogue:
L 68cm x W 22.5cm x H 56 cm

How can it be 2cm smaller?  Makes no sense to me.  Unless it really is.  I wonder if that's a redesign as well.

Doesn't that mean the ship will sail better?

After all that means the depth of the hull (comparatively)
is deeper then the hull of the 3940, because the length and width are both smaller.
Will this give it more stability, or even float a little higher in the water? ???

IMO it would be less stable, because it is shorter in length AND width, but still the same height.  So inother words, it's "taller" proportionately, which means it will be more prone to tipping over than the old one.

Or maybe it will sink lower? ???
Here's hoping... :P

@blackpearl

It looks to me like the deck of the 5135 has to be a new mold both to close the hole in the fore deck and to add firing positions for the on deck cannon.  If this is the case then I wouldn't be surprised if PM made it slightly smaller to conserve plastic (due to the high price of oil).  Just speculation on my part but like i said I would not be surprised.

Off topic, and sacrilegious, but did anyone notice that Lego has licensed Pirates of the Caribbean?
Makes me wonder, as always, about corporate spying between Lego and Playmobil...

Just checked one of my 3940's (masts, bowsprite, etc not installed) and it measures about 22 - 23 cm in width across the widest part of the deck (gun-hatches not deployed sideways).
So maybe the original measurements in the older catalogues weren't correct, and they've updated them...
Or maybe the sails are less wide on the 5135.

Now I'm gonna quit with "5135-investigations"... at least for a while.  ;D

Resistance is futile, you will be boarded!

Pre-release suppositions are fun!  I'm a transformers fan too...you should see how much speculation comes with a pre-released picture of a transformer...peeps go crazy trying to figure out how it transforms even before they have it in their hands.  It's good exercise for our imaginations, and it's exciting!  Look how much speculation we've generated for what is essentially a re-release of an old mould with only a few minor tweeks in design and colour?

We're EXCITED!!!  :D :D

That's for sure. I lie in bed at night thinking about redcoats I won't be able to get my hands on for 19 months. Does that make me weird?
