I agree with Gaston. I think the fake cannons are a great solution! It gives the ship a nice realistic look, like there's a whole row of cannons down there, without the extra money it takes to put real cannons when they are totally pointless because no one can possibly fire them!

As a side note, when we were kids, my brother and I were into legoland pirates, and on their big ships, they had several cannons, but not all of them fired! They saved money by having some of them be fakes, which I didn't really like. However, this IMO is different, because we're talking about cannons below deck (something lego didn't have at all) that you can't reach anyway.

I really love this new ship, more and more! ;D
The fake cannons that don't allow water in are perfect,
And they look so real!
I could never work the real cannons below deck on the 3940 anyway. :P

Next you'll be telling me the hull it bigger! (AKA Taller! ;D )

.. at least they should make these below deck cannons operational via a button on top of desk discretly placed, with the new types of volleys this set up surelky wouldnt be that expensive ...

I think I am going to buy another 3940 all this pirate talk has given me a klicky fever to buy more

the old 3050 style ships are very stable.

THe 3286 is not.  Believe me.  I have thoroughly tested this ship in bathtub, swimming pools, AND a real lake.  I think even Playmobil is aware of its inherent unstability, as even the original mold has to have an ugly counterweight ballast attached when u put it in the water, JUST so it won't topple over.  The old 3050 style ship doesn't need additional ballast counterweight besides the one already installed on board.

The only time the 3286 is "stable" is if you remove all the cannons (all 8) and all the clikies.  Then it can tread water alright.  BUt what is the point of sailing an un-armed, un-manned ship?

When fully armed and crewed, the 3286 simply does not stay upright very well, especially if a wave crashes against its side and enters the gunports.  Once you add the counterweight ballast, the overall weight of the ship itself is increased and brings the waterline even closer to the cannon ports.

Believe me, I have thoroughly tested this ship back and forth, experimenting with different ballast weights, different ballast depths, different cargo loads, different crew configurations, different placement of crew members (makes a difference whether u have a clicky on deck versus up high on the tops (crows nest)....and diffrent armaments configurations (number of cannons).

My end conclusion is this ship is NOT stable the way it is.  I'll get some video to show u my findings...

Next you'll be telling me the hull it bigger! (AKA Taller! ;D )

If the data is correct, rather smaller:

Dimensions of the 3940 (US 3286), from my catalogues:
L 70cm x W 24cm x H 56cm

Dimensions of the 5135, from the official website and the 2011-catalogue:
L 68cm x W 22.5cm x H 56 cm

Resistance is futile, you will be boarded!
