I have never really noticed this set before, only until Sylvia mentioned that the mangle is one of her favourite parts :)

Victorian Laundry

Although one thing that I noticed was - did they really have 4 arm rotary clothes lines in those days? :P

AFAIK, It was invented in 1855 :hmm: (although this series is known as the 1800's series, I don't know whether it is still a little early?) :-\

I don't know if it had been invented yet or not, but a regular clothesline is probably a lot more likely!

Hey now, young man, I remember my mother having one like that in the 1960 to 1970's, & I don't consider myself,.... well,....very ancient :hmm:!

Right!  :doh: Victorian times were late 1800s/ early 1900s! I was thinking of the early 1800s too, simply because I was watching a jane austen movie while thinking about this, and it's early 1800s.  ::)

ah, yes - the Victorian period was between 1837 - 1901

And the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost (roughly what the Victorian car is modelled on) was started production in 1906

Which is why Playmobil probably called it the 1900 series, as it was more getting into Edwardian than Victorian, what with items such as the motor powered car and truck in the toy line.

I know we have had this discussion before, and it is only a toy :P

Well Damo you might not know that one of the most important things that makes Playmobil so great it is the historical accuracy of it.
One little example is from the Romans set, the soldiers has their swords on the left side and the officers on the right !!!
