The chronicles of Mittland Part 01 Time of the lilies

„I thank you, faithful VALDOR, and I thank you, my knights, for your confidence. So long I live, I will never disappoint your confidence. This whole thing is a really bad joke, expression of a disappointed soul, which is envious on the success of someone else. Instead of celebrating a great victory, we carry expressions as to a funeral. “

„Father, what is, if the wolfman told the truth? If Highlord ARTRAC really uses this as a pretext to pull against us into the war? “„He cannot be so crazy! The other kingdoms will never permit that. All want the peace! “„However all are afraid also the magic! However the reproach weighs heavily that you have provided an advantage to you with the magic“, the noble TAMIN threw in.

 „We should send spies into the North realm! So that we can be sure about the facts." „And thus we ignore all agreements and contracts? If this comes to the public, is real the peace in the danger. “ 

[Vauban]

„Enough with the twaddle.“ King JURON let his knights grow silent with these words. „We all had a hard day. Take a rest! I wish you a deep sleep this night. You will see, the sun will shine again tomorrow.“ In such a way JURON, the king of MITTLAND, spoke and went to bed.

After the king had left the knight's hall, Sir SERAM meant, „I think, our king spoke truely. We are all troubled by the tournament. Our thoughts aren't any more clearly. We should terminate our discussion for today. “ The other knights agreed and they went to their chambers.

Only TAMIN and JURAS stayed just for a moment. They were with the prince the youngest of the knights. JURAS was the younger brother of the king, too.

TURID wanted to know, „What do you believe? Is it really only twaddle?“ Tamin twitched with the shoulders. „Peace prevails between the kingdoms since many years. So far everyone was content. What should the Highlord aim at thereby? “„Our country lies between the North realm and all other kingdoms. If ARTRAC wants to unite all realms under his regency, he must begin with us. If he attacks us however without reason, the other kings hurry us to assistance. However he cannot exist against the united armed forces of the kingdoms.  If he saw discord or if he reaches that the others do not intervene, then we are underlaid for his power. “

Chapter IX.

The next morning the old wolfman met again IRIN and the others in the guest room. IRIN opened to him that they wanted to travel to the south. „For you the best will be to leave MITTLAND. However my road is now here to end. I will go to my friend, the hunter, and to the things to await, which come there there. I wish you luck on your ways. “ With these words ARN said good-bye to the actors and went to the hunter.

King JURON was right at first. After the grandstands had been diminished, gradually the everyday life turned in the kingdom again. With one exception - assaults on travelers had increased strongly. Whole carload lots were robbed by large gangs of robbers. The roads became uncertain. The traders began to avoid MITTLAND.

The knights of the king supervised the large roads without resting, but they could not be everywhere. Despite their nonstop employment it succeeded to them only rarely to catch the robbers.
