Hi all, this will be my brag list of all the awesome deals I've gotten on Playmo and counting!
I like to hunt ebay for low buy-it-nows, or poorly-listed auctions (auctions that end on odd days where no one bids, or have mistakes in the listing information). You'd be suprised, sometimes sellers don't even list playmobil correctly, often confusing it with Lego or other brands. (Likewise, I have found some good lego deals from sellers incorrectly labelling them as playmobil!) I also like to hunt on craigslist using certain key words that general population would not think of or look for to find rare deals. So I am very proud of my collection because I only have paid a fraction of the cost it would have cost me at full market price.
With that said, here are a few of my latest finds:
3 3286 Playmobil ships off ebay, each for US$20 or less (not including shipping).
An old 3050 pirate ship for buy it now US$17!
A 4290 pirate ship for about the same.
A 3667 castle for US$30!
A Lot which included several royal navymen, british soldiers, a red pirate corsair ship, a 3286 pirate ship, a dozen pirates, a pirate island, AND a Pirates of the Caribbean collectible 3-d book (non-playmo) all for US$40! This was a local craigslist find!
And most recently: My dream castle 3268 Knights Empire Castle set, complete, WITH several extra knights, horses, 2 siege towers, catapults, and more.....all for only $100! Again, off craigslist! What else was remarkable about this listing was it was very short: the title red "Playmobile $100." And the description read: "Cost over $225 new. My son doesn't play with it anymore. Castle with lots of extras." With no pic. When I saw the lot in person, I was pleasantly suprised it was complete and had so much stuff extra with it! What a steal, no?
yay!
I haven't added up what all this would have cost, but I'm certain it would be several times more at full market (or even retail) price!
I'm so happy at my good deals!
I have to say, though, for the deals I get in person from local folks, the most embarassing part for me so far is that they always ask "how old are your kids?" to guage for me if it is age appropriate for my kiddies, but I have to admit that most of this stuff is really for me, lol (though my kiddies play too).
