Eagle exhibit
« on: December 10, 2010, 17:52:17 »
Ok, I finally got the parts to start really woorking on this eagle exhibit. i want to go ahead and show the set up. it still needs to be painted, but the weather is too cold to paint now, so I may have to wait til spring. First is an overview pic.

Here you can see more closely the eagle inside. I realized I only have one.  :-[

Here you can see what I decided to do about the floor and roof of the fly over part. I decided to just use a big section of leaves, as if there were vines growing all on that part of the fencing. I might add some more greenery to the sides later to give a better impression of vines.

And here you can see I have used the chicken coop for the indoor part of the exhibit. i just turned a wall section upside down so the little window is at the bottom and the eagle can go into his little indoor exhibit, the keeper can let down the door behind him and go in to clean the cage. I may trim the roof of the coop so it fits more closely to the cage.

Sorry for the grainy quality of that picture. I need a new camera. That's it for now, until I get a chance to paint it!  Still haven't decided what colors.

Yes, he can. It's modeled after a series of similar exhibits at the Fort Worth zoo called raptor canyon. The idea is to feel like you're in the exhibit with them as they fly over your head.

I really like this, Bonnibeth.   I especially like the tunnel the people can walk through.  Neat ideas!

Nice work, Beth, and a cleverly thought out custom.  I look forward to seeing the end result.

This is really cool Bonnie!!!!!!
Did you finally cut and paste the middle section?
Just a suggestion.... can you make it taller.... one more level? so the eagle could fly more comfortably!  ;D

I've actually thought about making it ... uh... deeper. Like so the tunnel would be longer.  that way the eagle would have more room to spread his wings. I do have the other side mostly empty on purpose so that he can move around.
