Pictures of the entire PCIAFD apparatus lineup.
« on: December 07, 2010, 14:36:54 »
Hello again everyone! This is the final photo story showing the Playmobil City International Airport Fire Department's apparatus that have been in various stages of customization, & refurbish projects for nearly 1 & 1/2 years. All of the projects are finally complete & have been assigned to their appropriate stations at the Playmobil City International Airport. In the future, these vehicles will be featured in upcoming airport photo stories showing them in their working environment. The following pictures are showing the entire fleet together at one time now that they are all complete. I hope you like the end & beginning of this long project chapter featuring the 3526 & 3525 Playmobil fire trucks. BTW, as noted in each past customization photo story, all custom 3526 vehicles can be converted to their original status if replacement parts can be found to do so. In other words none of the custom work shown is permanent.

Thank you very much Panos, for the positive comments! To answer your question, the only parts that may be painted are the light grey parts if they were severely discolored & bleaching in H2O2 didn't help. All red cab & compartment sections are carefully sanded & buffed with a polishing wheel removing scratches & blemishes.

polishing wheel. I hadn't thought of that. I have a few scratched and scuffed pieces, including my precious white elephant. I'll have to see what I can do.

Your lineup does indeed look really sharp, Bill. Sounds like your airport is very well prepared for the worst-case scenario.

Thank you bb! A word of advise, first lightly sand the surface with wet or dry sand paper in various grits before using the polishing wheel on a high speed drill with automotive polishing compound cream. You may even want to try using a heat gun to heat the surface after sanding to blend the damaged area, but be very careful! If you want to send your elephant to me for a refurbish project just let me know, my hospital can handle it too with no problem ;)! BTW, don't worry about me putting her through the CAT SCAN for fun, 'cause she won't fit !

Yeah, I don't think I would start with the precious elephant first.  ::) I'll practice on one of my numerous extra lions or giraffes first. (I don't know how I ended up with so many) Thanks for the advice! I'll have to see what I can do. Have to get chris a dremel first...

This is a stunning array, Bill.  :yup:  What care and patience you have taken with each and every piece.  This is truly a work of love.  I can see why you like the fire, hospital and emergency themes, there is so much to work with.  Thank you for sharing your pictures.
