Ideas for water?
« on: December 03, 2010, 21:20:29 »
Hi all!
Im about to make a photo shooting and I need to make water. A river or a sea. Any ideas????
I want it to look realistic in the pictures.
Any clue how water was made in playmo dioramas from de 80's?
I have a couple of ideas and I tried some but Im not satisfied with the results.  :(

 :help:
thanx!

...and on top of all the ideas in the thread whose link Warior posted, i could add the following two: I came across in a crafts shop a sea/water motivo paper...this can be used to represent water and its a cheap solution...

The other solution which is very appealing to me,but reqiures more patience and skill, is the one presented in the links Rasputin has provided with the realistic water...I have to say that I had not watched it all and was surprised to find out that the surface on which you want to pour the realistic water must be painted...so I have my realistic water and planning to use it one day  ;)

The way I do it is easy and looks even better in pictures than in real life. But it isn't neccessarily practical for a very big amount of water. I cut a piece of cardboard to the size and shape I need. Then I wrap it in crinkled aluminum foil (you can make it look like ripples or however you want) and then wrap it in blue cellophane. Of course you can staple or tape the edges on the back. In a picture you can't tell that the level of the water is higher than whatever surrounds it. It looks the opposite.

thank you Wot! I hadn't seen it. I'll read carfully.

Panos and Bonnie, your ideas are great. I tried with cellophane and it looks good but I used transparent  :-[
I should try blue. Realistic water might be the best looking Panos.... but I can't find it here in Buenos Aires.  :(
Thank you all. I'll read now what Wot linked!
