Stuck in the Snow
« on: December 03, 2010, 15:51:49 »
After seeing Manu's great pics, I decided to venture outside to have a go myself, and ended up doing a small photostory.

Please excuse the rubbishness, as I was extremely cold and the light was not so good.

Pics will be in blocks as usual

Damo :)

In the night, there was a freak snow storm, which left cars abandoned on the roads:

Scout Parsons arrives after calls from the stranded drivers:

However he doesn't realise that there is black ice under the snow, and his patrol car skids and slides to a hault when the snow builds up:

There is no option now but to get out of his warm and snug car, and into the arctic temperatures:

He checks on the occupants of each car in turn:

Also stuck in the snow is Lizzie, who had taken the Smart out for some late night shopping:

Scout Parsons advises them all to stay in their vehicles and keep warm

Just then, Avie and Flatcat arrive with Bob in his Unimog, kitted out for winter weather duties:

Suddenly, they too hit some black ice, and the truck slowly slides to a hault as the snow builds up:

Out they get to talk to Scout Parsons to try and work out what they are going to do:

Just that minute, their answer arrives! In the form of John and Andy and a very big Snow Cat:

John hops up back, and hands down shovels:

Bob starts to clear around the blue car:

Avie starts to clear around the Smart:

And Scout Parsons instructs Fred the baker what to do, as he will be the first to be pulled out:

Andy starts the Snow cat up, and it roars round the bend and up the hill. He puts is into reverse to hitch up Fred's Van:

Sucess! Fred's van is hitched up and pulled forward from the snow:

He is then lowered down, and heads off home down the road cleared by the Snow Cat:

Next to be pulled free is the blue car:

Off he goes, down the same road as Fred:

The Snow Cat judders as it slowly backs up the hill to get Scout Parson's patrol car:

The car is pulled gently down the little way, and unhooked. Scout Parsons gets on his way back to the station:

The Unimog is pulled out next:

Bob, John and Andy then continue off on their own, to clear and grit more roads:

Look! Avie managed to free Lizzie and the Smart with just the shovel

They all head home to get a breakfast and a nice cup of hot tea

Hope you enjoyed
Damo :)

Thank you, Panos :)

I thought I'd better make use of the snow while it's still around - this patch I used was my Japanese garden, with the thickest bit left
