This is sooo sad.
I will agree that without the originals next to the copies, it may be harder to tell them apart.

The fake helmets did not fool me for some reason, but the other items are very difficult to tell apart.
perhaps by touching them, one can feel the difference.

Playmobil has been protective of its designs.
It took a few years, I thought, for Geobra to finally win agaist ?Schenck, the Hungarian imitator.
I wonder if they will pursue this legal fight

That "Pirate Island" set looks vaguely familiar to me. I think I may have seen it for sale in a local discount outlet (Poundstretcher, quite possibly) a couple of years ago.

I remember thinking it was quite similar looking to a Playmo set I owned, but definitely wasn't tempted to buy it even though it was dirt cheap. (approx £10)

Thanks for the update, Andi. I hope Geobra can do something to stop the manufacturers over there stealing their ideas and knocking off these ugly 'copies' of their stuff.

Sorry for bumping this up, but this is eye opening even for me, a guy from Hong Kong.
I know they have made similar toys like Lego for many years, but could never imagine they will do the same with playmobil. Playmobil itself is quite unknown in China, and there is now only a single outlet in Shanghai.

Please let it sink if this is no longer news.
