and although you didnt want to point it out...I must say I had a 'situation' with the dates...actually I made these policemen some time back, inspired by Jackie Chan's movie, Project A, all wearing those what-you-call :-[ white wrapping above their shoes like these.

while these kung fu shoes should be dated around 1900 (OUR favourite period) ;)
should I leave the 1959 as it is? nobody is using these as their history books I hope  ;D :P

I did think of making this hk173 but with a fat male chinese klicky wearing a black or blue fu-man-chu cap  ;D

A Playmobil custom of a woven rattan sedan chair would be awesome, Cheng!

Either no one noticed ... Or, they were just too polite to say anything (unlike the members at GW) ... ;)

However, I won't tell anyone, Cheng ...  :shhhh: ...  ;D

Gaiters.

The US Navy, US Coast Guard and USMC (c1940's - 1950's) called them "leggings". The leggings were worn by landing parties. They were made of khaki canvas with hooked side lace ups.

Here are a couple of close-up pictures of canvas military "leggings".

You're very welcome. However, Andy, you're probably quite correct in calling them "gaiters" as Cheng's leg coverings don't seem to come up nearly as high as "leggings" (except for his officer) nor go down quite as low as "spats" ... ;)

All the best,
Richard

Hmmm ... Perhaps I should have looked at Cheng's customs a bit more carefully before I posted my last comment ...  :-[

In Cheng's first picture, he has his Hong Kong Policemen in "gaiters" and his officer in "leggings".

In Cheng's second picture, he has his Hong Kong Policemen in "leggings" and his officer in "spats"!

thanks Richard, for pointing out the differences...I hope one of these days my klickies dont wake up confused wearing leggings on one leg and gaiters on another  :P (now this thread looks somewhat like its out of GW forum ;D
