Christ-kind = Christ-child
In Europe, on 6th of December St. Nicholas is visiting us and bring gifts. On 24th of December when Jesus was born comes the Christkind and bring us gifts.
That is not quite the case in the whole of Europe, regarding the the Christ Kind. I'm in Germany at the moment and I saw this set at the playmo fun park. This set had me puzzled.
Christ kind would mean Jesus in my language (Dutch). The custom of bringing gifts by the Christ Kind is not practiced in Holland, hence my confusion. Thanks for clearing this up.
We celebrate st Nicolas on the 5th of December, by the way.
The saint Nicolas is a bit strange. He has the space for sitting on the horse in his tabbard, but he doesn't have the legs for it.
Thanks for posting this, macgayver!
