Leaving the Acz



ii. Departure

On the next morning, the Tapians prepare to leave the Fortress.

It's time to take the King's Colours from the Acz pole, after
all these years of peace. The Fortress will be a neutral place,
for a while. Neither the Tapians nor the Degan can afford
to claim it for themselves.

[Gustavo]

Down at the entrance, the Sargeant Petre prepares his soldiers with instructions.
The young Fletcher will be the man to stay on watch on the Acz, from now on,
for a while.

& Rufon, the local, will be his servant, as the Fortress assistant keeper, as usual.

SARGE (to Fletcher) "And the local, Rufon they call him, will be your assistant in your time of service here. Which will be short, I hope, once there will be someone else soon to relieve you. I told the Lord Regent that you are an important man in our Troop, therefore, your relieve is being provided. Then, we will come to get you, Fletch."
FLETCHER "Yes sir, Sarge."

[Gustavo]

SARGE "This will be the man, Master Bel! Fletcher is a skilful archer, a trustworthy man, and has proven smart enough for the job. I have chosen him myself for the job."
MASTER BEL "Very well then, mr. Fletcher: From now on, you are the local tenent on the Acz. Rufon will, therefore, assist you on whatever you need. He is in your charge."
FLETCHER "It's an honour, sire!"

The King's Colours are ready to leave.

Stripes of truce have replaced them on the pole. All hope it will be honoured.

[Gustavo]

MASTER BEL "As for us, we will take the treasure, and leave."
SARGE "As soon as you're ready, Bel."

The new lieu tenant enters his new post.

The King's soldiers keep their job of taking the luggage down to the entrance.
All need to be ready as soon as possible.

[Gustavo]

The hired troopers keep guard on the south & west ways, while the King's soldiers
are busy with the preparations.

Master Bel does have a few personal stuff to be carried along with the Royal property
here guarded.

His belongings are being taken out first. Spears are out. Fletcher's spear is placed
near the Fortress' entrance now.

[Gustavo]

(Almost everything is ready now.)

(The archer takes his place at the Fortress.)

Only the treasure is to be attended to, after all the primary preparations.

MASTER BEL "Take these furniture from over the dungeon, Gus."

[Gustavo]

GUS "What's the key?
MASTER BEL "Try the middle one, try the middle one ... No, the other middle one!
GUS (grumbles with himself ... "Crazy ol' man! humpf!")



GUS "Right, I think I got it!"
MASTER BEL "Good. Open it!"



~CLANG~
MASTER BEL "Come, come, Romeo ... He'll need help."
ROMEO (to Gus) "It smells funny, in there ..."
