Fire!!!!!

"FIRE!!!" exclaims Will.   "Fire!!!" exclaims Barbosa.  The ships engage, and all manner of remorseless pieces of metal are exchanged, hurling through the air, and at each other.  A firey blaze of fire and smoke fill the air!

Screams fall on deaf ears.....

The fire and the shots echo across the open sea, but there is no one there to hear the screams nor feel the pain that the crew endures from afar....

The battle rages on....

Only those aboard will see the ruthless terror exacted upon them by the unforgiving crew under Captain Barbosa's command of the Pearl, which is famed for leaving no survivors, according to the stories told.  But dead men tell no tales, they say...

A fiery flash of lightening....

As the fight rages on, the sound of thunder accompanies the roar of the Black Pearl's cannons, and a flash of lightening illuminates the unsympathetic rain beating against the white sails of the Interceptor in a furious crash of cutlass and armoury.  This would be the last anyone would see of this ill-fated ship:  the Interceptor's last stand....

Disappearing into the night....

Until nothing is left but the sight of the ship's stern being swallowed by the sea, left to the depths of Davey Jones' Locker, leaving only the blackened sillohuette of it's aggressor, the Black Pearl.

And as quickly as it came, the cursed Black Pearl and it's merciless crew disappears into the night, like a shadow disappearing into the abyss.

Excellent Atto  :captain:

I had only watched the first instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean and recently purchased the trilogy as it was on offer at HMV so your pictures are definitely spot on  ;)

Karim :)

Thank you Karim :)   I hadn't planned on sailing on such a dreary RAINY day, but it lent itself well to the battle from the movie as it wasn't all sunny and beautiful during the fight, so it came across more authentic methinks.  Truly accidental luck.  The Interceptor is fashioned very loosely off of the movie Interceptor (aka Lady Washington), but I made sure the Pearl was as close as possible while still remaining as true as possible to the spirit of the original Playmobil 3286 ship I sacrificed to become the Pearl.  Oddly, in Pirates of the Caribbean lore, the Black Pearl was originally named the Wicked Wench, a merchant ship of the East India Trading company, which is suppossed to be the ship in the original Disney ride attraction.  The original ship at disney was red, and so is the 3286.  So even that lends itself well to the conversion, or , re-christening of the ship as the Black Pearl.  I really felt like I was on the voyage myself when I created this scene reenactment.  :D

Brilliant, and I like the subtle effects work. I am just picturing putting my Giant Black Pearl into water - it'd sink like a brick!!!

Thanks for the compliment :)  Yeah, I wasn't sure exactly how to make smoke, so considering it was my first try I think it turned out ok.  I remember hearing someone say on a documentary that cannon fire has hints of yellow in it from burning sulfur, so I added yellow and a bit of orange to the cloud, and just went off instinct on trying to immitate what I thought was a semi-realistic smoke dispersal pattern.  'twas much fun :D

Oh, and what "Giant Black Pearl" do you have?  The one by Zizzle?  I too have a Zizzle Black Pearl as well, but sadly it is not seaworthy.  I find it seriously disproporionate to itself, however, though it does make a great "stage" setup for the 3 1/2 inch pirate figures.

I wish I could have purchased TWO 3286 ships and hacked them together to create a more lengthened hull, but I'm not rich, hehe.  On the first couple shots the Pearl actually capsized due to the wind blowing it over too easily since it was fully loaded with  14 playmo cannons, so I had to remove the cannons and the entire gun deck to get more shots without the boat being tipped over so easily.  I love how durable playmoships are, even when submersed!  Fortunately, my rigging and sails endured as well.  Sadly, I did lose some cargo, including my crate of chickens and the cargo pallat that comes with the crane.  :(
