I have to agree with Wolf Knight, Andy R and Bolingbroke. The redcoat is nice, though I already have several Redcoat officers so I wouldn't need many of this guy in his original role. I could customise him, but then by definition he hasn't been so useful in his original form.
The Pirate is nice enough, but as Pirates should be individual in their appearance, I can use maybe 3 of this figure by switching his parts around with other duplicate pirates.
For me a "best blister ever" would have to contain two figures I can use multiples of in their original format without modification, or with minimum modification (e.g. change of hair), which pretty much means they can form the basis of an army unit. The Romans 5827 blister, the Crusaders 5825 blister or pretty much any of the Knights theme blisters fit this profile. A nun/monk or monk/priest blister would score highly, but we're still waiting on that one. The 5799 ACW Blister would be great, but hasn't appeared in the US, maybe for reasons of historical sensitivity.
The Roman 5800 Blister is an example of a pack with one really useful figure (the legionary) and one we don't need in such quantity (the Centurion). Richard pointed out that is the blisters are priced at $3.29 or less you could buy the packs and throw away the Centurions and still get the legionaries cheaper than the are on Playmobil's website, but as nobody in the Continental United States has yet seen this blister in a shop, it's still a theoretical point.
Value for money depends on how much the blisters cost YOU the reader to obtain. The Blisters appear to have been designed primarily for the North American market, and when they reach Europe and other parts of the world they cost more. Even in the US and Canada the shelf prices can vary wildly between stores. Richard's assuming a shelf price of $3.29 or less, and that just isn't happening unless there's a sale on.
So sadly this blister, indeed any blister containing pirates or officers, can't be useful to me in large numbers, because my definition of a great blister is one I would want to buy in large numbers.
