I'd never thought of freezing either, Could it doesn't damage the plastic if left too long?
Don't worry. After several years of practicing this method I never had to observe any sort of negative result.
In any case it's much better than the other method suggest above to heat it. Heating could make the Klicky soften and transform. So I only use heat when exactly the result of softening the plastic is required.
For example heat is a good method to repair old-style horses whose hang their heads. Just remove the head of the horse an heat its shoulders with a hairdryer. Than press its shoulders together a bit.
And be careful: The horse will be hot! Than put the head back in place and the horse will hold its head proud upright from now on.
