I like the piano pretty much. Especially as it is the first grand piano!

I would prefer it to be in black, but it will come in another version some day, I am sure!

I do not like about it that it plays only wedding songs.
Would love to flash it with my own piano songs.  ;D

best,

I've only ever seen Liberace play a white piano, and even he didn't play one all the time.

I'd far rather have a black grand piano, or better the black upright piano reproduced. That is a classic and fits equally well in a Victorian Drawing Room and a Western Saloon. Comne to think of it, since they've killed both the Victorian and Western themes for now, maybe that's why we can't have the classic black upright piano.  :'(

why they stopped these themes i wonder  ??? especially the western theme that existed from the early years of playmobil from 1974 ,remeber that a victorian theme might not exist any more but the 5301 dollhouse has the same appearance like the old dollhouses ,(offcource they have nothing to do with each other they have totally differences but they are connected some way ) i believe because they had the moulds from the 5300 and 5305 houses they didn't want to spend more money to make a totally different mansion ,now there is a new house 5301 has been discontinioud but i woulden't call it victorian  ??? ???

i have two of the old victorian pianos, and i love them.  this new piano is ok, for style, but i hate the color.  no one has a white grand piano except for possibly stage entertainment.  has anyone painted this one black or brown?  is the music mechanism the same as the original victorian piano?

kaethe

no this needs batteries to play , this is the problem if the batter box didn't exist the piano would look great ,you can't see it from the box pictures or the catalogues well  .they try to hide it somehow for to look more attractive   ;)

Why they stopped these themes I wonder???

Simply because they can't keep every theme active forever, and these were insufficiently popular to make the cut.

Some themes seem to be forever popular (Police, Fire, Knights, Construction), while others are left ticking over. Western is still just ticking over with add-on sets available through the website and an occasional Special, so I guess my complaint there is unjust.

yes they have once in a while some western sets on ds or specials , pehaps they leave space for new themes but i don't see them to have any future the dragons etc..... the circus that i believe it's a boring theme was almost always present about 10 years was off so the western will sure be back one day  .....

Sometimes old themes have to stop or be temporarily put on the "back burner" in order to make way for new themes. This helps to keep the Playmobil brand fresh and reaches out to new fans who perhaps weren't so interested in the old themes.

I don't mind that sets eventually get retired, as long as the new stuff which replaces it is exciting from a design point of view and not just made from "recycled" parts and figures.

I don't have the white baby grand piano yet but I will definitely have to get one before they disappear from the shelves. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets re-released in a darker colour one day. :crossed:

Hi

One thing we seem to over look so often here in the collectors world is that Playmobil needs to have fast sales on a very broad market. In this day and age of short attention spans kids loose interest in themes and Playmobil is trying to keep up. Companies like Lego have faster turnaround and seem to be able to dominate the market. Playmobil is really in a difficult situation with market research, design, mold creation, etc... taking sometimes years to get a particular Theme to market. By this time the market has changed only complicating the process.
