That right. I forgot that. His absence was the reason for la Noche Triste in Tenochtitlan, where he lost a lot of men. Do not know how much he gained from the taskforce that was sent to arrest him. So, to be accurate, he started out with 500 men.
About being historically correct: it is a toy so it is based on archetypes and clichés and there for often on widespread misconceptions. For instance: the vikings didn't have horns on their helmet, but everybody thinks they did. We have Wicky the Viking to thank for that.
I do not mind a bit of historical correctnes, but it doesn't have to be 100%.
