A new display cabinet
« on: June 07, 2010, 22:43:49 »
I got this new display cabinet from Ikea a few weeks ago. I splurged and got the lighting kits as well to really do it up. I am really happy with my purchase. The shelves are big enough to allow for more display than I thought. I also like how the lighting makes the Playmobil look all fancy--instead of just a bunch of toys. I've already changed out displays a few times since I'm so pleased with how it looks. (The middle shelf is still a work in progress.)

Here are some shots without a flash to give you an idea of how well the lighting works. The cabinet looks awesome at night too. Sorry about the dust. Living in Phoenix, Arizona, dealing with dust is a non-stop battle.  ::)

That is a lovely display cabinet rufusxavier, it looks very stylish.
Once you have set up the displays on the 4 shelves do you plan to keep them there permanently or do you think you will change them around?

I can sympathise with the dust problem, living by the sea our house seems to be always dusty with sand particles and in winter with a layer of soot from the wood/coal fire!  ::)

Just for fun here are some closeups of the display on the bottom shelf. I took out one shelf to put in the small Victorian townhouse. The street scene photos are all taken without a flash using the lights from the cabinet only!  ;D

The interiors of the house are done with a flash, however.

Here are some final shots of the townhouse. skypurr, yes I plan to change it out often. This will limit my need to spread my display all over the house.   :D

Very nice rufusxavier! The cabinet does give your displays a certain cachet, I am surprised how much you can fit onto one shelf. :o Thanks for the photos and looking forward to future installations.

That's a beautiful cabinet - something I would love to have as it saves on a lot of dusting! ;D
But I haven't got the room :(
