Hello, Eddy ...

Playmobil was available when I was last in Japan (1986).

I was able to get a catalog which I'll scan for you later this summer.
(unless you already have one from 1986)

Thanks for the photos.

Hi Richard,

If it is the catalog which is depicted in the 3rd edition of the Collector, than I have it. I have all Japanese catalogs and flyers listed in the Collector. I still have 2 more flyers which are not listed yet and the Epoch catalog from 1989. Thanks for the offer !!!

Regards,

Eddy

Thanks for sharing these, I haven't seen these before and they are really interesting :lens:

I notice on the box in your second picture the guy has a shortened rifle which I haven't seen before, and then in your later image that shows the back of the boxes it is the usual length or is it just the angle :hmm:

Marvellous!  :D
I always enjoy looking at your treasures... I take it that these sets are rare and you do not have them all?
Has someone in the community all twenty sets? Or are they as rare as the rollercoaster?

Yes, they are nice looking boxes indeed.

After studying the images I'm a little bit confused. ???

It's obvious that there are 3 different box front images.

Also I noticed 3 different labeling systems.

Red with red number, blue with blue number and red with blue number.

It also appears that the contents of the boxes are different between the labeling systems.

Blue label and blue number 15 contains a fisherman.

Red label with Blue number 15 contains a diver.

Red label with blue number 14 contains a roadworker and yet the box back image006 shows 14 as an ice hockey player.

So, I'm guessing that there are at least 3 different sets of 20 figures to collect each set having a different box front image and coloured labeling system.

It may be possible that there is another set of 20, blue label with red number?

Like I said I'm a bit confused. ???

Hi,

There at least 3 or 4 different series of Meiji Cookie boxes that I know of. They all consist of 20 different figures, which can be seen on the backside of the boxes. From the one series (see first picture below) I have a total of 17 boxes and I have the chance to find the last 3 as well. The frontside of these series are always the same. There is another series of 20 (see second picture below) from which I have 2 sets, these series also have the same frontcover. The box with the 'wintersport scene' and the box with the 'train and passengers' all depict 10 different figures (on the front and the left and right side) and accessories (like trolley etc.) on each box. As you can see on the backside these 10 figures on each box are depicted, so from this series only 2 different front covers exist. I have a Japanese magazin in which another beautiful box is displayes with safari and circus people, I have yet to find this series. I hope this info helped a bit. From all of these boxes I 'only' have one 'mint in sealed box' but all the others are complete and come with 2 different Japanese flyers.
