Playmobil appearence on car booty

Hi,
Do any UK mambers watch car booty?

The episode shown just now showed Mark Franks and his 'what to look out for section' and guess what - it was Playmobil ;D

He gave a few facts like:

-Started in Germany in 1975 :hmm:

-If you join all the figures ever made by their hands, then they will circle the globe :hmm:

He was holding a farm set 3076 MISB, and said it was worth £10 - £15 :hmm:

He also mentioned that there were websites and fan clubs ;D

So all in all he didn't really know what he was talking about :D

Too bad Playmobil didn't get proper acknowledgement of its achievements :hissyfit:! A true failure that proves the misinformation out there >:(! But then again, what does that say about people like us here shaking our heads :no: complaining about the multitude of mistakes regarding our passion :lol:!

I learn an important piece of history today...originaly playmobil was a company producing plastic items (ok you all knew that) but did you know that the company (whatever its name was back then) is active since the very late 1800's?  :o :o :o You all know that playmobil also created the small plastic smiling klickies amidst the oil crisis in the 1970's, until then they used to produce larger plastic toys...the klicky was much cheaper to make and much easier to sell, since it fitted in the arms of a child....

The greatest part is, and hang on to your chairs, Hans Beck was brought in the company because he knew how to carve small toy figures on wood.....!!!!! He made a lot of them for his nephews and nieces....and the company back then hired him for this talent!

I learned this today from a toyshop owner at the far end of town....

Have you got the book 'story of a smile'?  because it has lot's of interesting historical facts like this about geobra andd Hans Beck in it.

Isn't it, that seems wierd, although it explains why everyone I tried were out of stock and were unhelpful in saying if they were getting any more in :(

Luckily I recently got my copy thrown in as a suprise when I picked up a box of Playmo just down the road that I had bought on ebay :)
