is this set a novelty in the states?
i remember buying this set for my niece some time ago.
 it's one of the sets i most like - it has everything a playmobil set should have:
. a lot of parts
. a good and rather small package
. an incredible attention to detail
. a classical history behind it that has the potential to also turn this set into a classic (ont that won't "feel" the passing of time
. the ability to transport us to another world
;) finally, as hansel and gretel was writen so many years ago, playmobil doesn't have to pay copyright royalties for using it - making this a "smart" move (the same tim burton had when he made a movie using the same text).

I love this set!  Not only is it a representation of my favorite childhood fairy tale, but it includes 4! "peasants" for my medieval village- and the only girl villager I have.

funnily enough, that is indeed the one set (of the three) that is still available in the Playmobil factory shop over here in Malta. I guess it didn't sell so good in the other parts of the world either..  it's a lovely set though!
