Definitely PLAY!  Free the klickies from their boxes! 
Unfortunately, I no longer have the imagination I used to...   
But every night, I bring my daughter (2 1/2) into the basement to feed the kitties, and after the kitties are fed, she gets a few minutes to tour the current set up- "daddies toys".  And we happen to have an 8 year old friend who is a playmo fanatic, and the best thing is hanging out with him and my daughter watching him play, as she runs around the village pointing out "ducks" and "sheep" and "dragon" and "Snow White".

As I tell her and her infant brother, "this will all be your someday..."

That's when you you find yourself turning into a referee or guardians position saying; Please don't take that apart, it took Daddy 3 years to complete that one from ebay job lots! ...or,.....Honey, don't throw that at your brother because if it becomes lost there are no replacement parts available,....or....Sweetheart, don't chew on that because it's from a rare MIB set!

I find myself doing tht all the time with my sister!
And when we had company over, one of the much younger kids really liked my Roman ship and a few of the knights...
I let him play with them, and managed to keep my mouth shut the whole time...
But I swear you could see me twitch whenever he smashed the hull into the desk...

I've got grandchildren that love to play with my construction theme vehicles! They also love playing with the add on "coal" nuggets they call "wocks"! I make sure to show them the proper etiquette of playing with someone else's toys & not to abuse them! Surprisingly enough they are doing well with everything, so gradually I add more items as we go along, but there are days when I find myself twitching through temper tantrums,.........!

I have a niece, age 5, my cousin's daughter...thankfully I keep the playable items lying around free at my bedroom in my parents house...And thankfully they never visit my house, they always visit my parents...I am fine with her mistreating my playable items ....

  i remember when i was a kid around 8-10 my parents were bringing to our home some of their friends who's child was a katastrophy he Treated my playmo badly he destroeyd many, and i will never forget the reaction of my friend when he came into my room after that kid   "what happened in here"!!!

When i was about 9 was this young  boy used to destroy other kids toys, he once tried to mess with one of me klickies, i threw him a glass of water , he cried and never played with me again. i was very please back then i remember with me little naughty act  !!!

 if i could run in time back then i would have done that  i remember once we went to their house we bought him some playmobil he destoyed it at once and the box and the toy,well when he was 12 he was doing other things than trowing glasses on children he had the girlfriend on the bed playing with that

Nope .. going down memory lane i realised i coukldnt have been 12 and put some other memory pieces together and i am pretty certain was when i was about 9... At 12 noone would dare come close to my klickies !!!!
