LIGHTHOUSE RESCUE SERVICE

Having got some firemen a few weeks ago I decided that I needed an engine for them - my first fire engine; a 3781 arrived today.
It's first outing now that the tourist season has arrived was to check that the ladder would be long enough to reach anyone trapped at the top of the lighthouse -



Ready to check .......



Mission accomplished!   ;D

What the crew need to know now is where all the pieces of equipment should be kept - any help gratefully received!

Hmmm, I think before there are any more exercises or live operations health and safety training is needed!   Extending the ladder without extending the outriggers and jacks is highy dangerous and could lead to the machine toppling over!

Storing equipment next.

The hose reel goes in the rectangular space running crosswise.

The toolbox with tools goes in the space behind where the ladder operator sits.

The broom and shovel go in the space on the left of the ladder turntable behind the hose reel.

Other parts go in the side lockers, but watch out how you store the cones as they can jam the locker shut.

I think that covers everything.  Let me know if it doesn't.

Elaine these are wanderfull photos!!! I really like the way you shot them  :clap: :clap: :clap:!!! And Scotland is always and everywhere so picturesque!!!

Did you get this fire engine with all its accessories? Was it clean??? If you need to clean it this thread has an interesting story to tell!!!  ;)

I have not tried to set all its equipment on it yet, but I am sure Bill Blackhurst, playmofire, flatcat and others can help you with that!!!

Thank you for that Gordon - actually some of the crew were new to this engine and weren't sure where the outriggers and jacks were and were so keen to go out on excercise that they overlooked the safety issues  :-[
luckily the grass there was so long that it helped to wedge the engine in place  :lol:
They promise to take more care next time!

Thank you Panos, Playmo1989 and Jimbo.  It is indeed a great place to live - the weather  does tend to get quite windy here at times though - the fire team willll be of help in righting things that get blown over!
The engine was another ebay win - complete with box and as it was in the photos; I didn't have to clean it at all, so I was very pleased with it.
I had actually been watching another engine - not quite as pristine as this one and with a tatty box but just happened to see this with about 10 minutes to go so put on a bid and was lucky to get it for £12.  The other one eventually went for £22. so I was glad I'd seen and won this one first!
