Insiprations for Playmobil heraldry?
« on: March 28, 2010, 16:22:28 »
Dear All,

A couple of weeks back, I noticed how the forthcoming new Lion Knights emblem (see http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Product-Show?pid=4867&cgid=Ritter) bears a striking resemblance to the logo of a certain English football (soccer) club (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=4245.msg53377#msg53377).

I've also been struck by how similar the emblem of the 'Wolf Clan' knights (see, e.g., 30 62 1960 - Shield, medium) is to the logo of another English football club, Wolverhampton Wanderers: see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolverhampton_Wanderers_F.C. I know, different colours, but the two look awfully alike.

Just wondering whether anyone else knows or has ideas about the inspirations for other Playmobil medieval heraldry. Of course, the old 'town guards' (e.g., http://playmodb.org/setpics/3380.jpg) are from Nuremberg (cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuremberg), but are there others?

Cheers,

AndrewL

I have some ideas for heraldic signs:

-acorn with oak leaf - knights color scheme: green/brown
-a rooster
-a male goat
-a crossed swords
-a bear
-a claw
-a castle gate
...
